If you're not very tech-savvy, computers repair can seem
like a real scarecrow. That being said, and it may seem strange coming from a
home computer repair business, there are many basic diagnostics and repairs
that can be done at home without a lot of works.
If you're having trouble, reviews some of the repair tips
below before deciding to seek computer repair services. While we and companies
like us appreciate your work, we would also like you to save money if you can!
Tip No. # 1: many problems come from faulty drives
Computers tend to be more ephemeral than we would like to
imagine. This is no more true than when it comes to hard drives (HDD).
For the uninitiated, a hard drive is one of the most common
ways to store files on computing devices. Some of these files may even be
essential for the proper functioning of your computer, especially those related
to your operating system.
The problem is that hard drives don't age well. They use
rapidly rotating plates and magnet to store and read files. Like whatever with
moving parts, this makes them prone to wear and tear and eventual failure.
Readers tend to develop problems in about 4 to 8 years.
These problems can include:
Strange sounds
Random blue screens and other accidents
Files disappear or become impractical
If you notices any of these issues, even though they seem to
resolve randomly (as they sometimes do), a reader is most likely dying. Back up
the files and replaces the drive, or you may lose all the files on that drive
permanently.
There is no good way to "repair" a dying disc.
Basically, it has become electronic waste. The only reason to keeps it is to
make sure you have the files and put them on a working drive.
If you are having difficulty extracting files from a dead or
dead drive, please contact professional service immediately. Often times,
companies like ours can still recover files that appear to have been lost, but
this can be an urgent matter.
Tip No. # 2: Bad (or nonexistent) RAM can look like a
mess
To put it much more simply, RAM is basically the active
memory of a computer. Essentially, RAM is the way a computer "thinks"
about the tasks it needs to perform.
The bad news is thats when RAM is faulty or not installed
properly, a computer can become almost (or literally) unusable. The good news
is that replacing faulty RAM is not that expensive or that difficult to fix.
Bad RAM with weird glitches, poor performance (especially
when playing video games), failure to load your video card, or corrupted files
(worse) can be reported.
These problems can often be diagnosed by going into your
system settings and looking at your RAM screen. If the numbers doesn't match
the RAM you installed, one (or more) of your keys is wrong.
Whether it display correctly or not, you can check for these
issues by methodically removing the RAM keys and then running your computer. If
problems stop after a particular card is withdrawn, that is the wrong one.
We'll note that some of the bad RAM issues can cause an
overlap with other hardware issues, such as a bad disk, but it's often best to
check your RAM first as it's easy to do and fix.
Tip No. 3: a failed start (often) means a power problem
If your computers does not turn on or suddenly shuts down
without any fault messages, it is often a sign that there is a problem with
your power supply.
Power supplies are delicate but essential components for the
operation of the computer. Small problems with the power supply can render the
entire device unusable. Because one computer needs power, an interrupted power
supply means that the entire computer will not work.
Unfortunately, power supplies problems are common in areas
that experience thunderstorms and other sources of power surges. These surges
can burn out your computer's power supplies and, in worst cases, other
problems.
